Southern Cross

Southern Cross is the English name of Crux Australis, a constellation visible in the Southern Hemisphere. It is used in the flags (and coat of arms) of Australia, Brasil, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Samoa (including some autonomous regions, federal subjects or partial states within these states) and the Mercosur.
The term Southern Cross can also refer to:
- the blue saltire as used in various flags of the Confederate States of America in the American Civil War

- the Southern Cross Cable, a submarine communications cable connecting New Zealand, Australia, Fiji, Hawaii, Oregon and California
