Sorel, Quebec

Sorel is a town in central Quebec at the confluence of the Richelieu River and the St. Lawrence River. Together with the town of Tracy, it forms the Ville (city) of Sorel-Tracy. The population of Sorel-Tracy was 34,194 in the 2001 census.
Sorel is the fourth oldest city in Canada. It is in Sorel that the Christmas tree made its first appearance in North America on Christmas Eve in 1781. Template:Canada-geo-stub
