Société Nationale d'Étude et de Construction de Moteurs d'Aviation or SNÉCMA is one of the world's leading aerospace corporations, specialized in propulsion, equipment and associated services. The name is roughly translated as "National Company for the Study and Construction of Aviation Engines." The group is divided into two core businesses, propulsion and equipment.
SNÉCMA's shareholding structure is thus:

SNÉCMA is merging with French defense conglomerate SAGEM to form SAFRAN. The new company is to operate four major divisions; defence, aerospace, propulsion and communications. The merger will bring the combined group's public ownership to 74%.
