Skithblathnir
|
In Norse Mythology, Skithblathnir (Old Norse: Skiðblaðnir) is the ship of Freyr, also spelt Skidbladnir. The ship, made by the dwarf Dvalin, and which originally belonged to Loki, was big enough to hold the whole of the host of Asgard. Whenever the sails were hoisted, a fair wind followed. According to the Ygnlinga saga, Skithblathnir could be rolled up like a cloth. It could travel over both land and sea, and always had a fair wind. It was given to Freyr by Loki, as part of the reparation for the theft of Sif's hair.
