Simca/Chrysler Horizon
|
The Chrysler Horizon is an sub-compact automobile developed by the Simca division of Chrysler in the late 1970s. The Horizon was a "world car", intended to be sold on both sides of the Atlantic, although the American-specification version differed greatly from the European original.
It was produced in Europe from 1977 to 1985, while the American built versions, the Dodge Omni and Plymouth Horizon continued until 1990. The Horizon existed through a turbulent time for Chrysler, being introduced shortly before the bankruptcy of its European subsidiary and its sale to PSA Peugeot-Citroen in 1978.
With the withdrawal of Chrysler from Europe, Peugeot used the forgotten Talbot brand (the rights to which were owned by Simca) to denote the various Chrysler, Rootes and Simca cars that it had inherited.
The Horizon was replaced in 1985 by the Peugeot 309.
