Sidney Davidoff
|
Sidney Davidoff is a senior partner in the firm of Davidoff Malito. Now a lobbyist and attorney, he was a personal aide or administrative assistant to NYC mayor John Lindsay. Hendrik Hertzberg called him "the Mayor's burly troubleshooter". [1] (http://www.bikereader.com/BikeReader/contributors/hertzberg/biketowork.html)
In 1968, when students took over Hamilton Hall at Columbia University holding the active dean captive there, the mayor sent Davidoff as one of the mediators to broker the dean's release. [2] (http://www.publicanthropology.org/TimesPast/Harris.htm)
Somehow he got onto Nixon's enemies list, possibly because during a street fracas between Hard Hats and Peaceniks he "bravely" lowered the American flag to half-mast in honor of the 4 demonstrators killed at Kent State after Hard Hats had raised it in defiance.
