Shushenskoye
|
Shushenskoye (Шу́шенское) is a village in Siberia, Russia, at the South of Krasnoyarsk Krai, at the confluence of Yenisei and Shush. Vladimir Lenin was in exile here from 1897 to 1900. In 1970, a museum dedicated to Lenin's time in Siberia was opened. Presently, this museum is one of the most prominent local sights. Many visitors from all over Russia and abroad come here to see the history of Lenin's stay as well as to see the peasant way of life during the 18th century. The other feature of this area are its nature reserves; the forests are unique in Russia. During 2003 and 2004 a new festival was started in Shushenskoye. This is a festival of ethnic music called Sayan Ring (www.sayanring.com). Many people come here from all over Russia and abroad. Different ethno-music styles are played during its 3-4 day duration. The population of the Shushenskoye is approximately 30,000 people. The climate is very warm in summer (so that local people cultivate melons and water-melons), and very cold in winter (up to -40 in Celsius). ro:Şuşenskoe
