"Shelter Skelter" is an episode of the 1980s revival of The Twilight Zone.
Joe Mantegna plays a family man obsessed with surviving a nuclear war. He even has built himself a fallout shelter in his basement. His wife, Joan Allen has taken the kids to visit her sister in another state leaving him alone. Suddenly, without warning a nuclear blast happens. Believing that World War III has begun he runs to the shelter. He survives on his wits alone as he is forced to turn away his friend who arrived too late. Alone and unaware of what exists outside, he remains. Outside, however things are quite different.
