Shantou University was authorized and established in 1981 by State Council and Guangdong Province. Mr. Li Ka Shing contributed 2 billion HK dollars to the founding of the school. It is located on the seashore in the northern area of the city of Shantou. The area is 1.26 square kilometers, and there are 455,500 square meters of floorspace.
