Serum protein electrophoresis
|
Serum protein electrophoresis is a technique used in the evalution of serum protein levels. Serum protein electophoresis uses an electrical current applied across the surface of an agarose gel to separate the serum protein components into five classifications by size and electrical charge, those being albumin, alpha-1-globulins, alpha-2-globulins, beta globulins, and gamma globulins.
