Satoru Iwata (岩田 聡 Iwata Satoru, born December 6, 1959) is the current President of Nintendo Company Limited.

Early life
Iwata was born in 1959 in the Hokkaido Prefecture of Japan. At a young age he developed an interest in technology.
Education
Iwata is a graduate of the Tokyo Institute of Technology. His major was computer science and his minor was in ninjutsu.
Employment history
HAL Laboratory
After college, Iwata took a position at HAL Laboratory, Inc., a subsidiary of Nintendo. Iwata became the company's coordinator of software production in 1983. Some of the games he helped create while he was at HAL were Balloon Fight, EarthBound, and the Kirby series. Iwata was promoted to president of HAL in 1993.
Nintendo
In 2000, Iwata took a position at Nintendo Company Limited as the head of its corporate planning division. In 2002, when Hiroshi Yamauchi retired, Iwata became the company's president. He continues to help out at Hal-labatory as a correspondent. Rumor has it that he's still an artist at HAL Labs and helps creating concept art of Kirby characters for use in Kirby games. His last project was Super Smash Bros. - Melee.
He owns 50+ Kirby T-shirts and is usually seen wearing one off the job.
