Sargeras, the Bronze Titan, champion of the Pantheon was an honorable warrior of his kind. When the Big Bang happened, the Titans started to working on the planets scattered all along, preparing them for life. But evil and demonic beings from another dimension, the Twisting Nether, appeared and started to undo their works. To prevent that, Titan high council Pantheon elected their greatest warrior, Sargeras, to deal with the demon threat. Sargeras continously fought with the demons for centuries.
In time, Sargeras came upon two very dangerous demon races. The devilish warlocks known as Eredar, they had an immense control on demonic magics and were using that magics to create destruction and terror. However, their immense power was merely a little insect compared to power of the giant Titan so Sargeras seized them and locked them up in a jail in a corner of the Twisting Nether. However, he was affected by the demons' corruption and was troubled of their pure evil.
After a short time he encountered with vampiric dreadlords known as Nathrezim. The insidious dreadlords were using their abilities to plant hatred and distrust seeds in the hearts of the people. Sargeras defeated them easily and get the universe rid of them by locking up them to a jail in another dimension. However, the corruption of Nathrezim had also affected him.
As the rage and doubt overran his emotions, Sargeras eventually went insane and lost all faith in the works of the Titans. Leaving from the ranks of the Titans forever, Sargeras set out to find his place in the universe. The Pantheon was sad for his loss, but they could never have guessed how far their lost brother could go.
As madness consumed the last vestiges of Sargeras' noble spirit, he started to think that the idea of order itself is folly and the chaos and destruction are the only absoultes in the universe. He blamed the Titans for the creation failure and at last he thought all of the Titans' work must be undone so the universe itself could be recreated. He shattered the prisons of the demons which he imprisoned. Seeing Dark Titan's great rage and power, the evil demons kneeled before him and promised to serve him in whatever way they could. Even the very appearance of Sargeras was corrupted because of his madness. His hair and beard became flames, horns of smoke popped out of his forehead and his chest split open the show the endless furnace of fury and hate.
Among the ranks of Eredar, Sargeras chose two champions: Kil'jaeden the Deceiver was chosen to find the darkest races in the universe and take them to their side and Archimonde the Defiler was chosen to lead the armies of Sargeras to destruction. Sargeras looked at his army and named it Burning Legion for it would soon scour the universe of life.
Sargeras set countless planets on flame when he finally found Azeroth. His first invasion on Azeroth was a total failure as he tried to enter, the portal exploded and sundered the world.
After his first failure, Sargeras found a way to send a part of him from a portal to Azeroth. He arrived on Azeroth in Northrend, where Guardian Aegwynn was waiting for him. They battled and Aegwynn defeated Sargeras, however she didn't realize that spirit of Sargeras had entered her womb and would transfer himself in her unborn son, Medivh, the Last Guardian.
At the same time Kil'jaeden deceived the orcs in Draenor and corrupted them with demonic magics. He made them drank the blood of Mannoroth the Destructor and the orcs became bloodthirsty war machines.
When Medivh was born and reached maturity, Sargeras twisted his thoughts and made him open a portal between the Draenor and Azeroth to let the orcs pass. His aim was to reach the Tomb of Sargeras, in which Aegwynn locked Sargeras' crippled body years ago.
Orcs flawed in through the Dark Portal and chaos began in Azeroth. However, the apprentice of Medivh, Khadgar, realized the Magus' corruption and with the help of Sir Anduin Lothar, he succeded in killing the possessed Guardian. With the death of Medivh, Sargeras' spirit banished back to Twisting Nether.
What happened to Sargeras after to death of Medivh is still unknown.
