SanomaWSOY is the leading media group in the Nordic countries with operations in 20 European countries. The group is also among the top five European magazine publishers and has a strong position, in addition to it's native Finland, in the Netherlands, Belgium, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia and Russia.
The group employs an average of 13,657 people. SanomaWSOY was formed in 1998 with the merger of Helsinki Media Corporation, Sanoma Corporation and WSOY (Werner Söderström Osakeyhtiö; Werner Söderström Corporation).

- Sanoma Newspaper publishing and printing
- WSOY Educational publishing, publishing, printing and calendar operations
- SWelcom Electronic media
- Rautakirja Kiosk operations, press distribution, bookstores and movie theatres
SanomaWSOY's stock is listed in Helsinki Stock Exchange. Its biggest owners include Aatos Erkko and other members of the Erkko family. The newspaper Helsingin Sanomat that was founded in 1889 as Päivälehti is one of the single most significant products of the group.
