Roxann Dawson (born September 11 1964) is an American actress, best known as B'Elanna Torres on the television series Star Trek: Voyager.
Dawson, born Roxann Caballero (also known as Roxann Biggs and Roxann Biggs-Dawson) was born in Los Angeles, California. A graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, Dawson's first professional acting job was in a Broadway production of A Chorus Line. She continued a stage career through the 1980s and 1990s, while occasionally landing minor film and television roles. In 1995, she was cast as the half-Klingon engineer B'Elanna Torres on Star Trek: Voyager. While working on Voyager, Dawson made her directorial debut; she has continued to direct occasionally for Star Trek: Enterprise and other television series.
Dawson has also pursued a writing career; her first play, Passage Through the Heart, debuted in 1997, and she has written (with Daniel Graham) a trilogy of science-fiction novels—Entering Tenebrea (ISBN 0671036076), Tenebrea's Hope (ISBN 0671036092), and Tenebrea Rising (ISBN 0671036114).
Dawson has married twice, and has one daughter, Emma Rose Dawson, born on January 16 1998.
