Rouzbeh Yassini

Rouzbeh Yassini is an Iranian-American engineer, considered to be the father of the cable modem.
Yassini emigrated to the United States from Iran as a young man in 1977, enrolling at the West Virginia University, where he studied electrical engineering. After working in a number of engineering positions for telecommunications companies, he founded LANCity Corporation in 1990; the company became the first major producer of cable modems. He was named CED Magazine's 1998 Man of the Year; in 2000, he became an advisor for CableLabs.
