Rotisserie

Rotisserie is a style of roasting where meat is skewered and revolves over a flame or spit. The rotation slowly cooks the meat in its own juices and allows easy access for continuous basting.
Horizontal rotisserie
Horizontal rotisserie is often used to cook chicken or pork.
Vertical rotisserie
Some dishes that are cooked on a vertical rotisserie:
- Döner kebab from Turkey
- Gyros, from Greece
- Shawarma, from the Near East
- Taco al pastor, from Mexico
Rotisserie Sports
Rotisserie is also a term used to describe fantasy sports games, particulary fantasy baseball. The first fantasy baseball league was called the Rotisserie League. The name was taken from the name of the restaurant where the league was organized, La Rotisserie Francaise.
