Ronald "Ron" Boswell (born 9 December 1940), Australian politician, has been a National Party member of the Australian Senate since July 1982, representing Queensland. He was born in Perth, Western Australia. He was a manufacturer's agent before entering politics.
Boswell has been the leader of the National Party in the Senate since April 10, 1990 and held many positions in the Coalition shadow ministry including Shadow Minister for Regional Development and External Territories (from September 1988 to April 1990), Shadow Minister for Northern Australia and External Territories (April 1993 to May 1994) and Shadow Minister for Consumer Affairs (May 1994 to December 1994).
Boswell was appointed Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Transport and Regional Services in July 1999 but left this position in October 2003
According to Graham Richardson (Whatever it Takes p. 147) Boswell owed his position to the support of Queensland premier Joh Bjelke-Petersen to such a degree that "we knew that if Joh had ever been kicked up the arse, Ron Boswell would have suffered from concussion".
