Rocket From The Tombs

Rocket From The Tombs was an American punk rock band that formed in the summer of 1974. At that time, Rocket From The Tombs comprised of David Thomas (vocals), Peter Laughner (guitar, vocals), Craig Bell (bass, vocals), Gene O'Connor (presently known as Cheetah Chrome) (guitar), and Johnny Madansky (presently known as Johnny Blitz) (drums). When the group disbanded in the late summer of 1975, some members formed The Dead Boys and others formed Pere Ubu. Both groups used songs first written or performed by Rocket From The Tombs.
Since Rocket From The Tombs never recorded an album in their lifetime, Smog Veil records released The Day the Earth Met the Rocket from the Tombs (2002), a 19 track compilation consisting of home demos and live takes.
Rocket From The Tombs reformed in (2003) with David Thomas (vocals), Richard Lloyd of Television (guitar), Craig Bell (bass guitar), Cheetah Chrome (guitar), and Steve Mehlman (drums) of Pere Ubu. In (2004), Smog Veil and Morphius released Rocket Redux, consisting of Rocket From The Tombs originals performed in studio by the 2003 lineup.
