Rex Morgan, M.D. is a soap opera comic strip created by Nicolas P. Dallis which debuted in 1948.
Morgan moved to Glenwood to take over a late friend's practice and ever since, despite the fact that fictional Glenwood is a small town, has had to grapple with a dizzying array of medical problems. He is assisted by his old friend's office manager, June Gale. He and Gale finally married in 1995.
Dr. Dallis, a psychiatrist, claimed he created the strip to inform the general public about medical issues in an entertaining manner. Reportedly, some readers accurately diagnosed themselves with illnesses after reading about those same illnesses in the strip. Dallis went on to create the strips Apartment 3-G and Judge Parker, both of which have relatively little to do with medical matters.
Dallis, who wrote this strip under the name "Dal Curtis", retired in 1990 and died the following year. Dallis' assistant Woody Wilson took over the writing. The strip was initially drawn Marvin Bradley and Frank Edgington, who for a time used the combined pen name of "Bradley Edgington". They were succeeded by Tony DiPreta (1984-2000) and Graham Nolan.
