René Blum (Paris, 13 March 1878 - Auschwitz, 30 April 1942) was the founder of the "Ballet de l'Opera a Monte Carlo".
He was the brother of the socialist Prime Minister of France, Leon Blum. In 1931, he was hired to form the "Ballet" by the Prince Louis II of Monaco.
In 1943, the Italian army invaded and occupied Monaco, setting up a fascist government administration. Shortly thereafter, following Mussolini's collapse in Italy, the German army occupied Monaco and began the deportation of the Jewish population. Among them was René Blum who was held in the Drancy deportation camp then shipped to the Auschwitz Nazi concentration camp where he was murdered.
