Remodernism
|
Remodernism, a term coined by Billy Childish and Charles Thomson, is an attempt to introduce a new spirituality into art, culture and society to replace postmodernism, which it accuses of being bankrupt and cynical.
In 2004 American filmmakers/photographers Jesse Richards and Harris Smith co-founded Remodernist Film and Photography, a new Remodernist group attempting to introduce Remodernist values into film and photography, and especially an emphasis on emotional meaning. Elements of new-wave/no-wave/expressionist/transcendental filmmaking helped lead to this new film movement.
Also in 2004 the world's first Remodernist art gallery was founded in Louisville, Kentucky by Jeffrey Scott Holland and Sherry Deatrick, called The Deatrick Gallery.
