Rarotongan language
|
Rarotongan is an East Central Polynesian language spoken mainly in the southern Cook Islands. The language is classified as Tahitic, or most closely related to Tahitian and New Zealand Maori. It is also very closely related to two of the three languages spoken in the northern Cook Islands, as well as to Tuamotuan, and Tubuaian. The government is currently working to standardize its orthography.
