Rainstick
|
The Rainstick is a simple, traditional percussion instrument. The original rainstick was purportedly invented by Chilean native Indians in order to attempt to bring rain to the dry desert regions of modern-day Chile. The rainstick makes a sound similar to the sound of falling rain.
Rainsticks come in many varieties, such as the Pinchincha rainstick (hand carved wood with grotesque figures and stone inlays), the crystal rainstick (transparent rod), and the traditional rainstick made of ocotillo cactus.
