Template:Radio station BBC Radio Cambridgeshire is the BBC Local Radio service for the English county of Cambridgeshire. It broadcasts from its studios in Cambridge on 96 (Cambridge) and 95.7 (Peterborough) FM and on DAB. It started broadcasting on May 1st 1982.
Chris Morris started his radio career here, testing the management's level of humour. A group of Cambridge University graduates started a Sunday evening show called the 'Naked Scientists', which asked for listeners' questions on science. It ran for a few years, though has stopped for the time being. It still has a website, with previous programmes available. It broadcast from Cambridge for the whole of the BBC East region.
The 95.7FM signal is by far the strongest. Unfortunately on 30th October 2004, a fire broke out (thought to be arson) 80ft up the main Peterborough mast, 1 mile west of Morborne, and the heat caused the whole mast to collapse. A shorter BT Group plc tower with microwave transmission dishes next to it was undamaged. The 95.7FM signal was put out of action for a few weeks, though has been reinstated. The transmitter is yet to be replaced.
