Primary Association
|
The Primary Association is a children's organization and an official auxillary within The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It was organized in 1878 in Farmington, Utah, and adopted churchwide in 1880 under the direction of Louie B. Felt, and ultimately under Relief Society President Eliza Roxcy Snow.
Presently, the Primary provides Sunday school and church-related activities to young Latter-day Saints from age 5 up to age 12. Most church units have a Primary; there is a General Primary Presidency in Salt Lake City, and usually one for each stake and ward. The Primary has its own songbook, made up of original songs and hymns modified for children.
