Pretty in Pink
|
Pretty in Pink is a 1986 film about teenage love and the struggle of growing up in poverty.
Molly Ringwald stars as "Andie," a young girl with an obsession for all things pink, an unemployed father and a crush on one of the richest boys in her school. The film was directed by Howard Deutch, produced by Lauren Shuler, and written by John Hughes.
Iona was the eccentric older friend, mentor, and something of a fairy godmother to Andie. She owned a record shop, was unmarried and wore vintage clothes.
In the actual film, Andie ends up with rich, preppy Blane. However, when test-screened before its official release, Andie was supposed to have hooked up with stylin' best friend Duckie. The novelization retains the Andie-Duckie ending.
