Port Vila

Port Vila (population 29,356) is the capital city of Vanuatu. Situated on the south coast of the island of Efate, it has the country's most important harbour and airport, making it the nation's economic and commercial centre. Port Vila is located at 17°45' South, 168°18' East (-17.75, 168.3).
During World War II, Port Vila was an American airbase.
In 1987, a cyclone severely damaged the city.
