A polar graph is a graph drawn with (circular) polar coordinates. Elementary mathematics instruction in graphing typically introduces the Cartesian plane, in which the axes are perpendicular, so points are specified in terms of distance from the origin in two (or three) perpendicular directions <math>(x,y)<math>. In a polar graph, points are specified in terms of absolute distance from the origin (radius <math>r<math>), and angle <math>\theta<math> (<math>r,\theta<math>). Polar graphs are often used in the rendering of trigonometric functions.
Polar graphs are used in designing radio antennas.
