A slightly bigger piphat ensemble is called "Piphat Khruang Khu" with 8 musical instruments. The other two instruments are: Ranad Thum or Thai xylophone that produces deeper sound than Ranad Ek and Khong Wong Lek or a set of 18 smaller gongs.
The biggest of all kinds of Piphat ensemble is "piphat Khruang Yai" with ten musical intruments. Another ones are Ranad Ek Lek and Ranad Tum Lek. They are almost the same as their ancestors, Ranad Ek and Ranad Thum, but they are made from metal instead of wood.
