A Phase Change Material is matter which undergos a phase change at a specific temperature and gives off or takes in large amounts of energy in the process. They are usually engineered in order to achieve a certain amount of temperature consistency within a system--Heat capacity.
Often a PCM or a combination of various PCMs can accurately maintain a specific temperature of a system as long as the external parts don't leave a specific range of several degrees.
Example Uses:
- Cold Packs for transport of medication

- Passive solar
Some Examples:
- Paraffin Wax
