Pentangle is a synonym for pentagram. The pentangle represents the endless knot.
This sign was pictured on the shield carried by Sir Gawaine when he left on his quest to meet the Green Knight.

Pentangle was also the name of a British folk rock band of the 1960s and 1970s.
