Penha Convent

Penha Convent is a convent situated in Vila Velha, on the top of a high mountain overlooking both Vitória and Vila Velha. Founded in around 1558, by Pedro Palácios. Today it is home to Espírito Santo's Patron Saint, Our Mother of Penha. It is scene of devout pilgrimage by many believers, and a green haven of forest surrounds it. Due to it being between two large urban areas, it is also very much sought-after leisure spot on weekends and holidays. It is also considered one of the main tourist attractions of the Espírito Santo.
