Paul Beresford

Sir Paul Alexander Beresford (born April 6, 1946 in Levin, New Zealand, educated in Richmond Nelson & Otago Uni) is an English politician and dentist. He has been Member of Parliament for Mole Valley since 1997 and previously represented Croydon Central between 1992 and 1997. He is a member of the Conservative Party.
He was leader of the London Borough of Wandsworth between 1983 and 1992, though much of the Margaret Thatcher government, and pioneered the practice of hiring contractors to do jobs that council workers had previously done. In 1990, he was knighted for services to inner city rehabilitation.
He served in the John Major government as a Minister in the Environment Department from 1994 to 1997
