Pair gain
|
A pair gain system is a transmission system that uses concentrators or multiplexers so that fewer wire pairs may be used than would otherwise be required to provide service to a given number of subscribers. Usually used in telephone systems.
For a pair gain to carry more than 1 simultaneous call per pair it has available to it, then Frequency-division multiple access or Time division multiple access techniques are used
DACS (Digital Access Carrier System) was a form of pair gain used in the United Kingdom, it uses a form of Time division multiple access called ISDN.
