Obertauern
|
Obertauern is a medium-sized ski resort in the Austrian state of Salzburg. It is popular with German tourists but almost unknown in other countries as it doesn't promote package holidays. It is famous for its high proportion of advanced-level skiing pistes and unusually high snowfall rates, which is due to its geographic location, allowing snow coming both from the northern and the southern side of the Alps.
Obertauen is a base for the Austrian World Cup and Olympic ski team. Though not famed for its Après-Ski, it is considered to offer one of the best skiing opportunities in the Eastern Alps.
