Nuristani
|
The Nuristani are an ethnic/religious group in the Nurestan Province of Afghanistan. They are related to the Kalash.
They are an ethnicity of Eastern Afghanistan on the borders of Pakistan, who for centuries remained the last pagan society in the country, until their conquest and forced conversion to Islam by an Afghan King in 1895. They live in almost inpeneterable hills and woods, and forest area, that often have natural fortresses on the sides of hills, to fight the princes and monarchs of the area, as each village had its own democratic council like the Ancient Greeks that some claim descendance from, as many claim that Alexander's army conquered them and united them.
