Nathanael
|
In the New Testament, Nathanael is a Galilean called by Christ to be a disciple, see John 1:45-50 and 21:2. Most authorities regard him as the same man who is called Bartholomew in Acts 1:13 and in the Synoptic Gospels, see Bartholomew, Bar. Nathanael is Bartholomew the tweleveth disciple called to by christ. In the lost Gnotics (commonly known as the Dead Sea Scrolls) '"Nathanael"' is referred to as the first angel created by God.
Nathanael means God has given. Nathaniel means God has Given, Nathanael means Gift of God.
