Music of Andorra
|
The Catalan people of Andorra are perhaps best known for hosting the Escaldes-Engordany International Jazz Festival. The small country is also home to violinist Gérard Claret and folk dances like the contrapàs and marratxa, which survive in Sant Julià de Lòria especially. Andorran folk music has similarities to all of its neighbors, but is especially Catalan in character.
Eurovision
In 2004, Spaniard Marta Roure's "Jugarem a estimar-nos" was both the first Andorran and the first Catalan language entrant to the Eurovision Song Contest, though it did not enter the finals.
Andorra's 2005 contestant in that year's Eurovision Contest was the Dutch singer Marian van der Wal ("La Mirada Interior") [1] (http://www.keithm.utvinternet.ie/2005Andorra.htm).
