Michael Buerk

Michael Duncan Buerk is a BBC journalist and newsreader. He was born in 1946 in Solihull, and was educated at Solihull School.
He is most famous for his reporting of the Ethiopian famine on 23rd October 1984. This inspired the Band Aid charity record and later the Live Aid famine relief concert.
He presented the Nine O Clock News in the 1990s, and then the BBC Ten O'Clock News from 2000 to 2002. He presented the news over 4000 times. He also sometimes presented the Breakfast programme. He has also presented 999 Lifesavers.
He also regularly chairs the Moral Maze on BBC Radio 4.
