Michael Asher is a Los Angeles conceptual artist whose installations have been exhibited in numerous museums and galleries both in the United States and abroad, including the Kunstverein Hamburg, The Renaissance Society in Chicago, Centre Georges Pompidou, Musee National d'Art Moderne and ARC in Paris, The Museum of Modern Art in New York, Van Abbemuseum Eindhoven in the Netherlands, The Art Institute of Chicago, The Banff Centre in Canada, the Krefeld Kunstmuseum in Germany, the Venice Biennale in Italy and Documenta 5 and 7 in Kassel Germany. His Writings, 1973-1983, on Works 1969-1979 has been published by The Press of the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. He has been the recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship and a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship.
Michael Asher teaches at the California Institute of the Arts, in Northern Los Angeles county.
