I guess we have learned our lesson. This page should have a link to http://openfacts.berlios.de/index-en.phtml?title=Wikipedia_Status -- Wolfram 16:04, 27 Dec 2003 (UTC)
- Gave it a shot since wikipedia can go down at any time. Someone fix it if there are any problems Dori | Talk 05:06, Dec 31, 2003 (UTC)
Also needs to be in HTML rather than wiki markup and I can't currently fix that. Jamesday 18:55, 22 Jan 2004 (UTC)
- Done - thanks Dori:) Jamesday 01:08, 26 Jan 2004 (UTC)

Try for a few more seconds at least!
I've noticed that recently this message (or one very much like it) has been coming up all the damn time when editing pages. I understand all the server load / hardware issues that Wikipedia is up against, but geez... I often repeatly preview my edits as I go and I've noticed that this message usually comes up within one second of hitting the "Preview" button (I've been working overnight in the U.S., so we're talking around 6am to noon UTC). What's so friggin' critical it can't wait for a few more seconds? Or am I just not understanding what's triggering this message? - dcljr 12:20, 29 Aug 2004 (UTC)
Oh, I forgot to mention why I'm so testy about this: sometimes (not always) when I get this message and hit my browser's "Back" button to return to my editing the wikitext has reverted back to its pre-edit state and everything I was just doing is gone. This is extremely annoying. - dcljr 12:24, 29 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- Instead of going back, reload until the preview works, and your new text will be there. Goplat 18:30, 29 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- Ah. Yes. That would be an option, wouldn't it? <g> - dcljr (who's been using web browsers for 10 years) 07:17, 30 Aug 2004 (UTC)
What is the point of linking to wikipedia article?
When the wiki is down, there's not much point in linking to a wiki-article, why not use a link to a "good" mirror, or a copy at OpenFacts?--Dittaeva 12:45, 16 Sep 2004 (UTC)

Livejournal
The wikitech technical journal that Kate has set up gives some good information and insight into various technical issues. I think this would be a good place to direct people, more so than the somewhat confusing OpenFacts page really. I've added the link to the message - what do you think? -- sannse (talk) 21:22, 20 Jan 2005 (UTC)
