Mauro Giuliani (July 27, 1781 – May 8, 1828) was an Italian guitarist and composer, active in Vienna. He was born in Bisceglie, Italy. He wrote 24 Etudes op.48 for guitar. This Italian guitar virtuoso flourished through the first third of the 19th century. Giuliani was born in Barletta, July 27, 1781, and died in Naples, May 8, 1829. At the age of 19 he undertook a highly successful tour in Europe; settled in Vienna in 1807, where he became associated with Hummel, Moschelles and Diabelli; Beethoven became interested in him. He won extraordinary acclaim in London.
