Matlalcueitl (goddess)
Matlalcueitl (also Matlalcueyetl or Matlalcueje) (She of the Green/Blue Skirt) is a goddess of life-giving rain and of song in Tlaxcalan mythology. The Tlaxcala were a separate tribe of Nahuatl speakers that were subjugated to the Aztecs at the time of the Spanish colonization of the Americas. In Aztec Mythology she was identified with Chalchiuhtlicue and with her consort, the ancient rain god Tlaloc.
Matlalcueitl (volcano)
Matlalcueitl (also called "La Malinche" after Hernán Cortés' interpretor and mistress) is the name of a dormant volcano in Tlaxcala where the rain goddess was thought to dwell. Matlalcueitl is the fifth highest mountain in Mexico, and is part of major group of volcanos located in the Eje Volcánico Transversal.
