Marquis de Carabas
|
Marquis de Carabas has several possible meanings:
- The Marquis de Carabas is a fictional nobleman in the fairy tale "Puss in Boots". In the story, a young man's cat arranges to make its master the Marquis de Carabas by convincing the King that he already is.
- The Marquis of Carabas' Picture Book is an old collection of children's stories, including "Puss in Boots", illustrated by Walter Crane. It can be found online at: http://www.childrensbooksonline.org/Marquis_of_Carabas/
- The Marquess of Carabas is a character in Benjamin Disraeli's novel Vivian Grey.
- "Marquis de Carabas" is the third episode of the anime FLCL, in which (rather appropriately), the cast performs "Puss in Boots" as a school play.
- In the BBC TV series and later novel Neverwhere, both written by Neil Gaiman, there is a character who calls himself the Marquis de Carabas. In the novel, the character has decided to name himself after an imaginary Marquis (per above) and to create of himself a figure of legend.
