Mansonite

Mansonite is a term used in reference to fans of Marilyn Manson and similar musical artists and genres, ie nu metal. The term is considered by most who use it to be derogatory, as it is usually directed at attention-seeking teenagers who mistakenly believe themselves to be part of the goth subculture.
Mansonite can also be used to refer to anyone who has chosen to identify with the goth subculture without having any idea of its actual nature or composition. Generally, an overnight goth, or Spooky Kid, will adopt certain aspects of the goth aesthetic (predominantly black clothing, copious amounts of eyeliner) and loudly proclaim themselves goth. Such announcements often shortly preceed the writing of bad angst poetry, minor but much-flaunted Self harm, interest in vampires and claims of Satanism.
