Macon, Belgium

Macon is a town located the municipality of Momignies in the Belgian province of Hainaut.
Macon has approximately 500 people. Macon is about 10 miles west of Chimay. Macon sits near the French border, near the site of the first U.S. troops who liberated Belgium during World War II. A memorial stands near Macon to the memory of soldiers of the First Army who crossed from France into Belgium at this point. The town is centered around St. Jean the Baptist Church, and a Linden Tree, several centuries old, sits in the church square, and is supported by braces originally built in the 1600s by Monsieur DeCuir.
