Macclesfield Station lies on the main railway line between London and Manchester, the West Coast Mainline, and is adequately served by both Intercity and local commuter train services. Facilities at the station include ticket sales, a kiosk, waiting room and public toilets.
Interestingly Macclesfield railway and bus stations are located very close to each other (each one is visible from the frontispiece of the other).
