MVP Baseball series

MVP Baseball is a series of realistic Major League Baseball video games. There have been three installments of the series, for the 2003, 2004 and 2005 seasons. It is the successor Electronic Arts' Triple Play Baseball series. In the 2004 edition, it featured the unique addition of playing as the Minor League affiliations of Major League teams, and expanded upon it the following year. The game has featured Randy Johnson, Miguel Tejada, Albert Pujols, and Manny Ramirez on its cover.
One of the most inventive aspects of the game is the pitch/throw meter. In other video game series in the past, when pitching, you simply hit the button corresponding to the pitch you wanted to throw, and held it down a certain length of time which would affect how fast it was thrown. In the MVP series, the player first holds down the pitch button (or throw button) to judge the power. Once the desired power is attained, the player lets go of the button, and attempts to tap the same button within a target area. The closer you get to the target area, the more accurate your pitch or throw will be.
As of 2005, in response to Electronic Arts' exclusive license with the NFL and ESPN, Take Two Interactive has signed an exclusive third party licensing contract with the MLB, the MLBPA, and the MLBAM to produce Major League Baseball titles. The agreement allows for console manufacturers Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo to produce MLB titles for their respective platforms, but bars third party developers such as Electronic Arts from continuing or developing their own MLB titles, which puts an end to MVP.
