Loras College is a private Catholic university located in Dubuque, Iowa, with a general attendance of approximately 1,500 students. It is one of three post-secondary institutions in the city of Dubuque, and is one of three Catholic colleges in the Archdiocese of Dubuque.
It is a liberal arts college that offers both undergraduate and graduate degrees. It also offers several pre-professional programs. The college has recently built a new library and a campus center, and it is in the process of remodeling the old library building into classroom space.
One notable graduate of Loras College was Father Aloysius Schmitt. He was one of those killed on board the USS Oklahoma when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor.
