Lloyd Llewellyn is the name of the 50s detective appearing in Daniel Clowes' underground comic by the same name.
Llewellyn's side kick goes by the name of Ernie Hoyle. The Police Seargeant is called "Red" Hoerring.
The black and white series ran for 6 issues. In Llewellyn's last issue, the later work of Eightball is foreshadowed; the story "The Nightmare" breaks limits of the former crime setting and turns into social satire. In its latest issue, we can also read:
"...And who knows... somewhere along that lonesome road we might see a new LLLL mag with a brand new format so dazzling, so breathtaking, so monumentally fantastic that I haven't even thought of it yet!"
The official Fantagraphics collection of this 80s mini-series (titled "#$@&! (http://www.fantagraphics.com/artist/clowes/clowes.html)") has sold out. Another collection was titled "The Manly World of Lloyd Llewellyn".
